Verbzilla vs. Digiverb

I own a Digitech Digiverb, and with all the Verbzilla hype going around, I wonder how the two compare. Anyone have experience with both?

Re: Verbzilla vs. Digiverb

I have the DigiTech DigiVerb and an old Boss RV-2. The RV-2's reverb is a little more natural, but it is a little noisy. The more recent RV-3 and RV-5 don't have any noise problems. The DigiVerb I have also does not have any problems with noise or hiss, especially with that cool tone knob. I usually keep my reverb processing minimal, so I'm not really picky about my reverb tone. Still, I don't believe the Verbzilla could be much of a step above the DigiVerb. If I was to upgrade from the DigiVerb, I would either consider the Boss RV-5 (for the stereo ins and outs) or keep my eyes open for a rackmount reverb processor.

Re: Verbzilla vs. Digiverb

Good advice, Baritone. I was wondering whether or not it was really worth my while to move from the DigiVerb to the Verbzilla.

Re: Verbzilla vs. Digiverb

I've never actually sat down and played with the digiverb...mainly because I'm not a real big fan of Digitech products in the first place ;).

I own the Verbzilla though, and it really is a fantastic little pedal. I'd say its worthy of the praise it receives on here. It also has stereo ins/outs...

If you're happy with the digiverb, there might not be a whole lotta point in upgrading. But, if ya think there's something missing, it might be worth a shot.

Perluss Whun.

I just wanted a decent 'verb. I like L6. When Lew endorsed it (with his disdain for all things digital), I HAD to check it out.

I liked it right away. I've been using the 63 Spring setting almost exclusively. Today I switched to "Hall" and liked it even more.

The real question is whether you like your sound. If you do, why change anything?

Re: Verbzilla vs. Digiverb

Get a used Boss RV-3, it blows both these pedals away, I guarantee it.
I have to call you there.:) I'm very picky about reverb. I had a RV-3 years ago that I sold.To my ears it sounded cold and hard and unidimensional. No matter how I tweaked it I got that Metallic Like playing inside a empty oil tanker sound. The Vebzilla has a warm, organic, 3D sound to it. Very close to studio grade rack units. I'm also a frugulmeister. I would never drop $125+ on a piece of gear unless I saw THAT MUCH VALUE IN IT!:smokin:

Re: Verbzilla vs. Digiverb

I actually prefer DigiTech to Line 6, but there seem to be a lot of Line 6 fans out there. I liked the old RV-3, and I think it is a bit or a collector's item now. I just prefer to place my chorus between delay and reverb, so I wanted them in separate units. For a more stripped-down but rockin reverb, the Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail is awesome.
