Which pedal for Marshall JCM800 in a Box? BB Preamp?

Re: Which pedal for Marshall JCM800 in a Box? BB Preamp?

Heymcz,

Thanks man! :beerchug:

I want it for high gain stuff anyways.

I have read about this harshness issue, hope its not a big deal. Am gonna be using it with a blues jr. (98, made in usa with the old circuit, so it is not bright) and with humbuckers.

Now I gotta get the sucker. :)

Marshall JAckhammer Pedal does a good 800 series marshall. I really like it through the clean channel of my Peavey Classic 30. It was made to do just that. Plus it has another higher gain mode that is more of a 2000 TSL series sound.

I have both BB and CB, also. BB is a much smoother pedal, doesn't seem to me like what you're looking for. CB has way more available gain, much more in the Marshall camp. I don't think it's too harsh at all, but I have the internal trimmer dialed way back. It's not on my board now, if you're interested in it shoot me a PM. Scott

...It doesn't do low gain well at all, kinda breaks up and sounds a bit fizzy, but for medium-high gain, it's pretty good....

I have to agree with this. The CrunchBox is not very good at low gain, or atleast it's not to my taste, and I find it not to respond very well to volume changes on the guitar. It does not clean up the way I would like it to.
It is a very good higher gain pedal, and my current "Marshall in a Box"...
