  • hughes and Kettner Edition Blonde - opinions?

A friend loaned me an H and K edition blonde 40 w solid state amp. However, the input jack needs to be fixed, as it cuts out (I've checked: not the cables, not the guitars, etc.) I know that will be a cheap fix, but I'm wondering whether it is worth it? I've gotten the plug perfect a couple of times for 5 minutes or so, and the thing sounds good, but obviously that's not much of a test sample. Bearing in mind that this isn't a tube amp and is therefore inherently limited, I would like a louder practice amp (I use a little fender tweed tube re-issue) with clean and overdrive channels. I've tried some modelling amps (which appear to be all there is in that volume range in solid state these days) and they sound to "cold" or processed to me.

Any opinions on the H and K or other suggestions would be appreciated.
