Stupid Question. Pretty sure I know the answer. (Wiring question)

I want to add a tap tempo external pedal to my DD20. I know I need a momentary switch. Like the Boss FS5U or a keyboard sustain pedal. I have a FS5L (latching version)
Can I use this as my tap tempo or does the latching feature mess that up?

Is it possible to mod it for my purpose?
