sweetwater has the reissue original rat for $200 which has the original chip
I got my ratII on sale for $80 and sounds amazing
99% of people cant really tell the difference for minor chip changes and I dont care about 80s hair metal and dancers step on my pedals and try to steal them anywayz, it is psychological, I saw some good videos, there are a ton of youtube videos on rats...

got my ratii at a MF sale day. it does needed things to my marshall jcm900. adds a bit of tightness to my orange thunderverb that I really dig for the heavy chuggingz...here are some reviews and stuff:

The circuit for the Rat 2 looks almost identical to the original rat. Supposedly the tone/filter knob turns the opposite way, and it seems that they used different diodes for the clipping stage - although in my limited experience that particular change would not make a huge difference in tone.

I had a RAT 2 when they first came out and leant it to a friend who was doing some recording. Guy was VERY fussy about his tones. He loved my pedal but I think they were no longer available so he got a re-issue RAT 1. He hated the RAT 1 and said it sounded nothing like my pedal.

I have the original Small Box RAT. I tried adding a LED light but never got it to work right. It dirties any clean amp pretty effectively , but seems too much with my Dual Terror.

Had them all except the germanium ydr. My favorite is my vintage Turbo Rat, but it's not leaps better than the newer Chinese RatII.
