    Hey zzmoore,
Sorry for the late reply. Busy week at work!! I really don't want to sell it. I haven't contacted Egnater; do I just email their customer service?
Live near?... I live in San Diego if that helps...Thanks for any advise you can give.

@ehdwuld, What's "jump send/ return"?.... I don't think it's those inputs I've went direct and still the issue persist..

@GuitarDoc, I'm willing to put all new tubes but don't want to throw more money at it until I know for sure this issue can actually be fixed. I'm extremely curious too!

    Thanks for your help guys!

Well...Yeah...That is what CS is for.
Describe your problem in best detail you can (link them this thread if you want) and see if they have encountered this before.
They may have a fix for a fairly common problem.
Cannot remember if you said, but this may also be a warranty issue.
Only one way to find out.
      good luck

Re: Annoying problem w/ egnater rebel 30 amp head

If you've ruled out tubes, return to ehwuld's advise about the send/return FX loop jacks. I'm finding this to be a common problem on modern amps. If they get oxidized, they intermittently cut out the signal till there's eventually no signal. Scrub out every jack on the amp with contact cleaner or alcohol on a Q Tip. Plug something into every jack on the amp 50 times while scrubbing them all out. Amps going in/out can usually be diagnosed as an oxidized jack, if the tubes aren't bad.

He said he has tried going direct.
Oxidized jacks not not conduct for 20-40 minutes, and then stop conducting.
He has a thermal problem....a cold solder joint, radial crack, or something of that ilk.

            My Laney did exactly that
Played about 5 min then no sound

Swapped send jack of the effects loop
            All is fine now

does direct equate to no effects loop?

if the amp has a loop it is not bypassed by going into the front of the amp without anything in the loop

the jacks of the effects loop have switches like the ones on stereo headphones
that open the normal path through to the power section and send it through the jack

if nothing is plugged in the switch is normally closed and allows the circuit to complete
                to the power section

if a jack is in, it opens this switch sending the signal through the jack

                ^^
here on the left side of the image

this is the part that gets grimey and fails
                heats stays open
                causing the circuit to fail

inserting a cable from the send to return bypasses the switch
                and proves the bad jack

                thank you

Even while playing straight guitar into the amp without any effects or anything else plugged in the volume still cuts in and out. It really only happens when running long sets then around the 40ish minute mark it cuts out. Other then that it works completely normal which makes it difficult to diagnose..

Will makesure to update with their resolution.

                  Thanks guys.

That sounds like a heat/expansion issue shorting somewhere. Try running a fan directly at it, from the top/back, while playing.

I actually emailed a bit with Bruce when I first purchase my Rebel 30 as I'd heard GC was having issues with the preamp tubes, IIRC.
Not sure how it is now, but back then they were really upfront and forthright about their amps.

                    Good luck!

Sound that routinely cuts in and out after 20 minutes of play Is Not the typical symptom of an oxidized jack.
It suggests a thermal problem of Tube, Cold Solder, Radial Cracks from the wave, etc etc.
It COULD be a bad connection in the loop. bit these symptoms would not be indicative of that condition.

Okay, so no real advise from Egnater but to get it serviced at their one certified repair shop here in SD. Otherwise I can drive 3hrs north and take it directly to them.. After reading some poor reviews for the audio repair shop on Yelp, I'm thinking of taking on this repair myself. I'm going to start with new power tubes and making sure they have good connections.

Found this writeup on line saying there were a couple bad tube connections.

                                Wish me luck!
