So I have this trashy Esteban amp, as soon as you press the on button you're blasted with the sweet sound of loud a$$ static. Not sure what's wrong with it, someone help me out here please. I''l probably get frustrated and trash it but, meh

1) is it a tube amp?
2) if so, are the tubes new and known good, or old?
3) does the static release in a burst then fade/stop?
4) does the static get louder or quieter when you use the volume and/or tone pots?
5) does this happen whether a cable is plugged into the input or not?
6) is there an effects loop?

My guess is that it is a by-product of the Estaban empire. Does it make static when noting is plugged in?Administrator of the SDUGF

Re: What's wrong with the thing
Still, something cheap to learn on. I would take it apart and see if any wires have broken loose. If nothing else, it becomes a workbench amp.-Chris
