  • Tube or Transistor (AOR 100 or CR120)

Looking for a high watt metal amp
Primarily to be used for doom/stoner to death metal
I don't need something super tight, i just need something that can roar, somewhat like a hot-rodded plexi type(oddly I can get my 6505mh to "roar" with a boost, and an eq in the FX loop)

I'm open to suggestions, but I've currently been looking at two different amps. The Laney AOR 100, and the Orange CR120.
Originally i thought a JCM 800 would be great, but everyone said a AOR sounds better.
I've nerver heard the AOR in real life, and the guys at my guitar shop say I should buy the CR120 instead(since they sell it there)
I'm just worried I won't get the screaming tone out of the orange SS, like I would with a tube Marshall or Laney

Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance

    Jackson SL2H Soloist MAH

    B standard

I would try both if you can, but the laney definitely is good at roaring. The AOR series were souped up 800 type amps. I liked the series II a little more, but the series 1 weren't much different. There were more than one model in that series though.

The AOR is superior. No contest.
