I just saw a Davy Knowles video on Facebook. He's touring a Rory Gallagher tribute right now, and was CS Strat--> Blues Driver --> Rory sig OD --> AC30, and it was INSANE. I've never really used a Vox, and it's making me think I'm missing out.

Is an AC15 a similar tone? Size & power wise, that would suit my needs (and wallet) better.

I love the AC30 sound and I've played quite a bit through an AC15 (it's a classic P&W amp so they have one in the church I play).

It's the same flavor but IMHO the AC30 is in a league of its own. It's very loud and heavy so it's quite impractical though.

If you go AC15 pay attention to the speakers. They can make a huge difference and there's quite a bit of variation in the models IME.

Last thing I'll say is that if you use pedals for dirt, not all go well with it IME so you need to rethink your chain.
