I can for a fact confirm that yes, yes it does.
I've never dimed it, not even close. I keep the gain between noon and 2 o'clock, and the volume usually around 10 and that's with my drummer and bass player tearing it up in the same room.

Thank God for ear plugs, amirite?

Multiple channels no doubt. But still - 8 preamp tubes.

Wow, not sure what they are doing with that many tubes. But, yes, V1 should be closest to the input jack to reduce extra noise, especially with that many tube stages! Let us know if they say different, but I can't imagine it.

That's a metric ****-ton of preamp tubes.

That's the first thing I did. But forums are usually a lot quicker (and in the case of some companies I've had to deal with, a lot more reliable as well).

Still, I have all the papers that came with the amp, and there the tube layout seems to match what's on their page, so I dunno.

    Re: EVH tube layout

In most amps V1 is located closest to the input jack.
I don’t know if that is the case with your particular amp but I don’t see why it would be different. Unless there is some design difference with this amp vs. a traditional signal path of other amps.

Is it possible that the layout changed at some point and the schematics you have reflect 2 different versions of the amp?

started a topic EVH tube layout

    EVH tube layout

Just opened up my EVH 5153 100W to look for tubes gone bad. Going by the weird crackling and hissing, most likely its one of the preamp tubes. In the process, found out that one power tube was about to go (glowing very intensly, small burn mark on the back of the glass).

I was comparing the tube layout sticker on the inside of the amp to the PCB layout drawing that came with it, and then comapred it to official documentatino available online. Something doesn't add up.

This is the tube layout, according to the schematic and EVH webpage:

And here's what's on the inside of the head shell:

Front row has been flipped around. According to the sticker, that is.
