  • NAD Peavey VIP 2

So far i bought Peavey Vypyr 40w from the local store. First impresions are good, i like XXX and Butcher presets the most, XXX is more modern, Butcher is old school. I haven't played that much, just about 3 hours. So i haven't tried all the effects and different channels of models, just lead tones. Delay is ok. I gotta try and set fuzz function, i tried and haven't get that fuzzy sound i wanted yet. First impressions are good, it's not a tube amp, so i wasn't expecting superior sound. Haven't got Sanpera footswitch yet. And i tried bass simulation, it's very good.

I use a VIP 1 for lessons. I use the cleaner models, but it is a good sounding little amp. I wish I had something like that when I was learning.

The on board effects are great
Just don't try to hit it with an overdrive

I like that you can save several presets and switch to them quickly

The baritone and acoustic simulations are cool

This will be an amp for small solo gigs. I got to crank it up a little more. Sound is somewhere in the bigger Cubes league. Similar to 40XL which i had in past. But lot more options.

          That's what I noticed
My Cube 30 would fart out trying to keep up with a drummer
The VIP2 didn't have that problem

          And it's super light

I've used mine with a Bad Monkey pedal and thought it sounded good.

Mine didnt like my Joyo Ultimate Drive

But all of my solid state amps thin out with the Ultimate drive

Sound from this amp is quite good, i must remind myself that this is not a tube amp. As far as effects goes, i am not fx freak, just a touch of delay is what i need. So i am not messing that much with knobs. Also, often i just set into one particular amp model, and than control the sound with pickups, tone and volume controls of a guitar. I found out sound is quite ok, but nothing special at all, maybe a bit better than cube. It's a modeler. But i will definately get sanpera to switch between cleans, rhytm and leads.
