  • I'll build my own, battery powered, "practice and outdoors amp"-

    Amps: 4x 9V "chinese" pre-soldered amplifiers,
    each driving a 8" speaker (cheap ones)

    in a pine box cabinet-

    With built in overdrive, tone control, and reverb (from a Behringer box)-

    A project I've been designing for many years now.

    After the neighbor, meth addicted woman stole my Roland Cube amp,

    i've been in need of a battery powered, portable amp...

    So! I'll try to make one myself!

    A couple of months back I built a new cabinet for my Danelectro Honeytone amp. During the process I irreparably damaged the electronics, but the cabinet was a success. This cabinet also came out great (I think so, anyway), and the electronics also work.

      Do you have access to the materials and tools you need to make this and where are you going to take it?

        Ambitious.
        4 8" speakers independently powdered are going to be loud.

          You’re going to want to change 4 batteries?

            Well...

            I'm still in the "design" stage of this project;

            Am trying to make use of real cheap, chinese, pre-made 9V amplifiers. And build a nice pine box, with cheap 8" speakers.

            As far as batteries; I think I'll run 6 larger 1,5V batteries in series, for the four amplifiers,
            instead of four 9V batteries. .

            cheers

              Actually,

              I'll need to order everything but the speakers from "overseas";

              and I'll need access to the local "workshop" to get the speaker enclosure done.

              But, I think it's a nice idea still...

                Looks like I won't be leaving my apartment before next spring :/... so; my priorities are a bit different now, I'm sorry.

                But in theory, there should be rather easy to make a nice, battery portable "Practice amp" for less than 50 USD. :o.

                rock on \m/

                  Someone posted a link to a DIY chinese 30 watt amp they had built. You get a bag of components for $15.
