      when i order my celtic combo, it is going to have to be able to take a licking ... it would kill me to buy something 'pretty' (like furniture) only to have it dinged while loading in/out at bars, etc ... i like em plain and simple .. this tends to keep the cost down too, which makes the whole prospect more appealing in the nearer (as opposed to the further) future

      i say black tolex / salt-n-pepper grille

      and tons of tonal mojo inside

        I voted for the classic Combo... Salt/Pepper Grill.
        I've always liked the combo. Although with all the hubbub about head/Cab greatness, maybe i should convert my Mark IV and go that route. But then again I am happy with my current rig..It does what I need it to do. With the possible exception of being just too loud for most situations.
        Or perhaps I'm just too wishy washy.

          Old thread, for sure.

          LD23, if your combo sounds great, don't mess with it. The only real advantages on the head versus combo thing is that if you amp is prone to rattles, then going with a head/cab version is nice. Or if you're getting older and you don''t want to truck a 70 lb. combo in, you can bring them in seperately. Now that I've had my shoulder surgery, I'm a big fan of head/cab if you want more than one speaker. For one speaker only, I'd always go combo.

                Hey Scott.If i was to order an Amp from you in the next year or so would it be possible for you to build it with an Input Tranny that will handle 220V 50hz ? (e.g. for most of Europe)?

                  I've resisted going 220v so far. I could probably buy a Variac that could handle it I guess. It's not currently in the lineup. Shipping overseas presents another layer of complexity as well.

                      Ah very true. I'd be massacred on Import Duties and tax!!!!!!

                        If I'm going to pay for a hand-built, top-grade amp, I'd like to have something that looks a little different. Make it stand out from the norm.
