  • thinking about gettin' an EQ pedal

I'm thinkin' about gettin' an EQ pedal
and I don't have much room on my pedalboard:

Does it make a difference if it's in front of the wah pedal or behind it?

Well, I'd say buy mine, but it's bigger than the room you have left!

Works the best it's going to work within your amp's effects loop,if it has one..It'll cut down on alot of noise and hiss and would be positioned right between the preamp and the output stages of your amp.

Puckboy, that'd be overkill for my applications

Stratdeluxer, THANK YOU! If I get one I will put it in the effects loop.

I've modded the Boss GE7 for better tone and less noise for myself and Jeff H...There's very little hiss if you run it in front of an amp,but it's very quiet in a decent effects loop...It was very quiet when I ran mine into my Vox Valvetronix 120 VTX head for instance..

Re: thinking about gettin' an EQ pedal

I absolutely love my MXR 10 band EQ. I have the Kerry King sig one, but it is no different than the standard M-108. It definitely made a huge difference on my recto. Really thickened up my tone. It is the one pedal I could not live without.
              Looking to Purchase:

That's the one I was thinkin' about picking up. I'll have it on all the time cuz I won't be putting it on the pedal-board... But I think it would really help me out.

+1 to that. when i used to have my single recto head, i would sometimes run a (stock) boss GE-7 in the loop, and it was pretty darn quiet

Anyone tried the Electro harmonix EQ pedal ?
I do agree that since the stock OD is used, it needs an EQ pedal badly to boost its gain and whatever. An additional compressor with definately help also

Hi guys. just gotten a Kerry King MXR EQ.
Its great, using the stock OD is just like an EFFECT

I'd suggest skipping the EQ pedal and buying an Xotic RC Boost. Not only a clean boost for your signal but has really good EQ properties.

Really ? But i don't have those around in my local stores here, I want more boost in my OD bass, have the boom from back. I think the next best thing for me is the Fulltone OCD =)

The Fulltone OCD is a fine pedal. But I use the RC Boost at the end of my pedal chain just to juice and tweak things up.

What are you looking to achieve? Honestly I havnt used my eq with my amp for awhile now. I do set the sliders as weird position, kick on an octave pedal, and a big muff and make some really cool bass sounds. But thats just a personal prefference.
