Yup...I'm interested in how the tube rectifier and El34s are gonna match up tonewise....I love JTM45 tone for what it is, but the "sag" from the rectifier bugs me for heavier sounds...I'm wondering if the El34s will help tighten the amp up compared to 5881/KT66s, etc while still having a little bit of sag for "feel".

you could always put in one of those weber replacement ss rectifier plugs. I have one. I'll stick it in there and see how I like it tonight.

Also, keep in mind that a 5AR4 has the *least* amount of sag of any rectifier tube.

I think the order from least to most sag is...

        ss
        5AR4/GZ34
        GZ37 ??

So Scott what made you prefer the EL34s, just more cut and more plexiish tone?
I still think I like the idea of KT66s, but if they are completely obselite to the EL34s...?

And what are these hotrod switchable mods about?!!?

check your email. i just sent you a long one.

KT66 power tubes are excellent tone-wise. It really just depends on which tone you are after. The amp can do both and then some.

Re: Introducing the Celtic Edana 45!

I'll have actual real live pics available on the web soon. The ones I sent to Alex were of a not quite completed amp. Gimme a few days. I'm still waiting on some parts so I can try those tweaks and install the switches if they work.
