    Re: Ordered a Plexitone!

OK Rid this thing is killer.. now if I only had your chops lol The bottom end is totally crunchy. It is definitely very Marshally.. beats the heck out of my Maxon OD and my Tube Factor, as far as getting a Marshall sound.. very impressive my friend. The versatility is just right for what I need it for. The variable boost is a great option. When going in to the amp clean, you can boost your friggin head off! Having the 2 switchable settings for crunch and gain is sweet too.. the tone control is very sensitive.. I posted a quick/sloppy clip at the tips and clips board.. more later

haha my friend was raving about this pedal.. and he's been selling gear for a few years. He really likes that you can push 2 switches at a time, changing the gain and engaging the boost at the same time.

I recently sold my Maxon OD. It was very cool, but quite a contrast to the Marshall tones. I liked the fact that it did not lose low end though.. like other OD pedals I've had.

I also have a zebra PGn and a mahogany tele body on the way I don't think I'll get much homework done this weekend

Hmm sounds more like your amps is having a hard time with the pedal.
It has alot of fatness to it, the lowend is not gone on the plexi like on a whole lot of other drives!
And it does follow the amps clean sound, and with humbuckers the tonal range is almost only mids, while the singles does have a deeper lowend, not bigger but the range is wider, and it will be present with that extra gain added.
So if you have alot of lowend dialed in, it will flub and fart out with the plexi engaged, especially on BF style Fenders and alike.
And small amps might have a serious problem coping with it, it does pack something of a punch

But like with a Marshall you need to use your volume and toneknobs, wire your bridge singlecoil to the middle pickups tone is also a good way of taming the highs, the pedal is designed for a clear voice, nothing hide behind so to say.
So open singles needs alittle work.
Plus the wider tonal range requires abit of a different playing from a LP style guitar, it is not easy but it can be done with some patience

I didn't start using "stock" strats until all my Marshalls were history. I want to use the Plexitone with a 59 Bassman clone, a 65 Fender Champ and a few other closer to Marshall sound 10 watt or so tube amps. The one thing I didn't do was play with the volume or tone knobs. My strats sound real tubby and flubby through the pedal on amps where they sound dynamite plugged straight in. I've been told this is to be expected, but Hendrix, Blackmore etc...

When using the pedal with a different guitar I turn the knobs all the way down and worked from there so I've really taken quite a bit of time--at least 40, 50 seconds. No, seriously I've spent a bit of time. I had no problem at all with the LPs. I thought I had my 73 metal face in the room with me again. Brought a tear to my eye, lol. It really has no equal (IMHO) with the hummers, but I will try again with the singles and see what I get.

    Re: Ordered a Plexitone!

I have yet to hear a pedal that works better with my Les Pauls but it sounds really bad with all of my single coil pickup guitars. I've tried it through about six or seven of my amps now and I can't get it to sound good with the strats--which is why I got it, lol.

Anybody got any suggestions on maybe amp settings or what have you so I can get it to sound good with my strats or am I trying to make a dog oink like a pig?

    Hopefully like a Marshall..hehe
Well more or less like your amp really.
It is very clear and follows what ever you use, being guitar and the amp.
I made because a cranked Marshall is loud, and that most of the old ones have great cleans, so it should work like an extension of your amp.

    Ah someone bought it
Lol seriously we are having a hard time keeping up with the demand....who would have thought that??
Gary empties his stock faster than we can deliver..hehe
    Enjoy it Stevo
It is not like most ss drives, loads of clarity and not very compressed either.
A year after its release and the sleeper is awake now...I'm off to build more of them, have done nothing else for three months now
If you open it up and look inside, and there is a black speedmarker line, then I made it
