Tube Burn In TIme?

I am thinking about replacing the 12AX7 preamp tubes in my peavey ultra amp. When I get new tubes, how long should I burn them in for before I should play normal again with the amp?

Also, can i burn them in on standby?

I wouldn't worry about it, just plug em in and let it rip. Power tubes is where the burn in is more important, basically just to make sure the tube is stable. But if you get them from a reputable dealer, they should have already done that during testing.

With speakers, it's a different deal though, new speakers do break in with time and use, and typically sound better the more they're used. My best sounding cab is an old marshall with Celestion G12H30's, they're nice and loose, sound great.

RevolutionMan is exactly correct!....preamp tubes don't get better with time...
You can't "age" things faster....
