Not necessarily. If you're wiring series/parallel the resistance should be the same with 6 speakers as it is for 4 speakers. I have one 4x12 with 8 ohm speakers wired series/parallel and together they are 8 ohms. Or you could wire 4x12 and 2x12 so the head thinks you have two cabs in parallel.
