2 smaller cases seem like the better option for all the reasons previously mentioned.Interconnect panels in the back of each one with your midi, line/amp and loops outs/ins mounted right there for super easy access. Plug and play. A small power strip, plugged into the conditioner, is mounted in the back for things I can’t power directly (like a heavy wart and an inline transformer). I have a Peterson Strobostomp for tuning on my pedal board with midi controller. Lots of pedals were on a shelf in the rack - THAT added the most weight. Currently only adding a pedal in the signal as desired. And, I should add, not gigging at the moment, but tethered to computers and recording interface. I used to employ a small 4-wheel, folding dolly with everything but guitars loaded on it. Wasn’t hard to get help lifting it over small steps, etc. Better than carrying - even over potholes or gravel or snow.
