  • Pedal advice please!

Hi I am looking for an overdrive...

Detailed and smooth, going for a versatile overdrive, possibly double channel, that can do jazz through blues through fusion. I want lots of USABLE gain but no Recto soudns needed. that is sustaining and VERY OPEN sounding.

    Price: Around $200.

Some companies I wonder about are:

    Banzai
    LovePedal
    G2D
    Menatone

You might want to have a look at Visual Sound's Jekyll and Hyde Ultimate Overdrive. 2 pedals in 1, and you can use both together. I love mine!

Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it's a plan!

I am looking for something a little nicer, and I don't want a Tubescreamer sound...Plus I HATE the look and size of Visual Sound pedals!

I want something with more articulate gain and sensitivity and harmonics for jazz, blues, and fusion....

How about going to your local guitar shop and trying every single overdrive pedal they have?

All the companies you mentioned are really good.

I think you'd like the Banzai Coldfusion. I've had 2 of them before, and they're like a Klon, but can get a little chunkier. They fatten the signal nicely, and are very loud, so you've got to keep the volume and gain low, but the tone is great.

One thing you may need to do is find a dealer that stocks upper end OD's, and listen to a few. Or, if you like wheelin'n'dealing, start buying and selling them used, so you can hear them in your own rig. I had to go through a bunch, just to see what works best with my playing/amps/guitars.
I have a Klon for the low/medium gain, and a T.Rex Mudhoney for the aggressive gain. I still use amp gain, moreso than pedals, but I use those to shape different tones.

            Re: Pedal advice please!

I REALLY wish there were more guitar effects/accessories stores...

Where I live, there is just Guitar Center and a few small stores that either suck completely, have no effects, bad prices, or a combination.

The Klon is just too much, but I will check out the Coldfusion...

            Keep the ideas comin'!

Well there's always try in store than buy online.

I love the Keeley TS9 and Blues Drivers! I'll also say the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 - it's 3 modes and 2 channels (boost and normal) have a lot of pure, great tones, classic tones.

I like the Mesa V Twin for higher gain tones (you can substitute tubes for different variation).

I have heard the visual sound pedals, they seem cool too!
