  • Cryo treated valves. Anyone tried them, have opinions etc?

Watford Valves is offering Cryogenic treated tubes that are claimed to offer better tone over their standard counterparts.

Watford Valves, one of Europe's leading suppliers of tested, graded and guaranteed valves to the professional music industry. We offer some of the most comprehensive testing facilities available today.

Anybody try these? I'd be interested on any opinions about these.

sounds like they better have good QC afterwards. the only way to tell BS or not is tompare a set of non-frozen ones to the exact same run of tubes , yet frozen.

Yeah, I have some cryo'd RFT ECC83s..........do they sound better? Well, they sound fantastic in a Marshall type amp, but I've never tried or compared them to their non-cryo'd counterpart.

My honest opinion is it's a sales ploy....it all boils down to how much & how hard you play vs. how much you're willing to pay.

Mmmm...... I think I might shoot them a mail and find out what the fuss is about. They aren't horrendously more expensive than their 'normal' counterparts, so I might give them a whirl - say compare a normal JJ ECC83s with a cryo'd one in V1 of my Engl. I feel a shootout on the horizon!!
