I bought a cheap Seismic empty 2x12 last weekend. It showed up today. I think it was $155 new or a little less with some coupon code.
I pulled the grille, connected the wires, drilled 8 holes with some Celestion T-75s I had on the shelf. Sunk 8 new screws. Screwed the grille back on.
I am happy with the build quality. The handles could maybe be a bit more stout, but they seem adequate.
I played it a bit, bounced back and forth between the 1960a I have over here. My first impressions were it sounds a little bit honky. Obviously not as much boom and low thump as the 4x12, but I bumped the resonance to compensate a little.
I'll play with it a few days before I decide if I may go with different speakers maybe. I don't hate it, but I'm not in love with it yet. 75s have always been one of my favorite flavors, but I have only really used them in 4x12s.
I'll get a sound byte up soon.
