SD Power Stage 700 for Subwoofer

I've been asked to lend my PowerStage 700 to a friend who wants to use it on subwoofers at an outdoor gig. I know nothing about subwoofers, other than they'll probably run 500 to 1000 watts.As I admit to ignorance on this topic, it would seem my 700 would be in jeopardy? is this correct?

a power amp supplies power to an unpowered speaker. assuming the sub is unpowered and within the range of acceptable impedance, using the powerstage to power a sub shouldnt hurt it

Yeah, it should work just fine. It is just clean power, like any other power amp.
