Though I got to say, it's a bit frustrating getting a new half-stack and then not being able to crank it up properly for any decent length of time. I got lucky & managed to go up above 5-6 on my amp for a while yesterday cuz the old geezer next door finally kicked the bucket and everyone was at his funeral (sounded glorious!), but then when they got back I had to turn it back down cuz I did'nt want to seem insensitive

Maybe it's time I invested in some sort of sound-proofing or something..

After playing round with a bunch of amp's I do think these speaker's could do with a bit more high end sizzle. The high end roll-off is pretty severe & it's especially noticeable with darker amps like my Randall. The cab actually sounds best with the Super Crush & Brutus (both pretty bright) ...but even with those I have to crank the treble a bit more than usual and even then it lacks sizzle. Turning up the treble makes the tone sharper/brighter but does'nt add much sizzle (?) I actually think something like 2 V30's in an "X" would be perfect....it needs some extra fizz ;lmao:

Funnily enough it sounds pretty good in the room (and ****ing awesome cranked up!) . It's the recorded tones that are a little too tame on top...maybe it's just time to try different mics/positioning.. lets see

lol...it turns out out I had the mic backwards (front facing back)....that's why it sounded so wierd...

Have'nt really dialed in a tone ..and no delay or reverb i the loop either ..it's 100% direct out of the amp/cab...

It sounds real and not plastic now...and there's some sizzle too..

Unlike before the recorded tone is like it sounds in the room...

Yeah..I'm back to loving it now...

With my Brutus (Settings in video). Nothing inthe loop/no fx

The texture in the tone is back. It sounded unnaturally smooth & plastic with the mike turned backwards

And with my Laboga Classic (just the amp/cab ...nothing in the loop/no fx/processing) w/ Treble @ 2 and then with it @ 8 (halfway through). Both extremes & there's that real/natural sounding texture/sizzle at both settings....unlike before. Pretty relieved it records like it sounds I don't need to spring for more speakers

Having said that I could use my Mooer GE300 to make an IR pack with my cab and my mic facing the wrong way and market it for that "smooth, plastic artificial" sound that's so popular with modern metal/metalcore these days...might just have stumbled onto something special ...probably make a packet out of it

Again with the Cort but this one's with the"hot-rodded humbucker" Fishman mode selected and my Brutus Live 30 watter's "lead 1" channel..no fx/nothing in the loop. Settings in the video.

Yeah no shortage of sizzle now with the mic pointing the right way

I love 4x12's. Nothing like 4x12's for TONE.

                        AMEN. They are wonderful things

Here's my little 15W Goldea Rex head (probably my fave EL84 amp that I own) -> into the Peavey (no fx/nothing in the loop)

Congrats, sounds like a great deal on a solid cab.

There's a pretty decent following of guys who love the Sheffield speakers. I think it's one of the better speakers in Peaveys lineup.

Thanks! I'm very happy with the tones I'm getting out of this thing since I turned the mic around facing the right way

It's a slightly dark, rich & smooth-ish tone but still dynamic/punchy & it never gets muddy. Crank the gain up and it gets nice and aggressive without the spikyness & fizz. Ie...pretty much my dream tone I like from a cab

That is a sweet and underrated cab. Sounds great in the clips.
