Many of the effects mentioned in this thread will color your sound. If that's what you're looking for, great. If you want a clean boost try something like the Bad Bob Booster:

How about an MXR Microamp? Sit that in your loop and it should do the trick.

I sometimes use a Fulltone Fat Boost in my amps FX loop for solos, it works great for me.

Using the Pup Booster in the FX loop should do the same thing, just dont have too much volume coming out of the pedal and you'll be fine

Putting a booster on an already distorted channel will not give you a big volume boost if you're using a fair amount of gain because the distortion compresses the signal. Putting a booster in the FX loop should give you the ability increase your overall volume by a large margin. I do this and can go from bedroom level to raging with just my FX loop booster...
