hey: I have a vox ad30vt it's a great little amp...but it has to much bass...should I try it with a open back? What is the main difference between a closed back and a open back?

try tilting the cabinet up some or lifting it off the groung entirely ... you get a fair amount of bass coupling with the cab flat on the floor (or too close to a wall)
yes, an open back cab will have less bass 'oomph' ...

the low end will also be a bit "looser" sounding in an open back cabinet as well, if you know what i mean.Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus
