When I think Marshall tone, I think of EL34's and Celestion speakers. As far as cheap, low wattage amps that have that, I'm at a loss.

What exactly is low wattage to you?

Id say the Laney GH series somewhat get you in that direction. I love mine. Not sure if thats in your price range though.

Get a Vox Valvetronix 120w head and run it into a cab loaded with V30's or similar speakers.

Get a decent single channel 30 watt amp with el34 tubes. Also get a plexitone pedal.

Ouch - I am a huge fan of 800s. I don't know how to do it on a budget.

I will say I like Traynor YBA-1's, trhey are cheap and easy to mod.

A Sovtek amp would likely be the cheapest way to a "800 like" sound.

An 80's 4203 or 3203 Artist is always an option.

Like Imp said, you will always be wanting a Marshall, so just save and get the Marshall. You will wish you did. If you were looking for something a "little different" than a Marshall, that would be a different story.

Prices shure are rising aren't they.
