  • Mesa Boogie LoneStar OPINIONS????

    Anyone use these?

Are they all that? Do they take pedals well? What do you think of the cleans vs other Fenders etc? The Gain vs other Mesas or Marshalls?

I tried one on 2 occassions at the Mesa store and one time I like it and one I didn't. My main problem was that the gain channel was kidna that typical mesa fart-y low. It was more like a crunchy mark series than anything new, but I could be wrong. I mean hell, I shunned JCM800s for years before I started to love them (way after they stopped being made...lol).

They're definetely nice amps, but I've never had the opportunity to let it rip at volumes where a real conclusion can be made. I particularly enjoy its clean voicing and it's soft grinding overdrive. I'm sure it will take pedals wonderfully, but that's partly my optimistic view.

Go to GC, pick it up and crank it. Return it in a couple of weeks if it doesn't do it for you. That is, if you are serious about the amp.

Honestly, from listening to your clips and your particular style, I think there are other amps more suitable to your voice.

I thought it was a very cool amp. Too bad mine nearly caught my house and Guitar Center on fire!!
I get weak in the knees at the sight of a vintage Fender amp!
