    So how important is it really to have perfectly matched triodes for a phase inverter?

    Truth be told, almost nonexistent.... even if you perfectly match all the other components associated with the OT section, you wouldn't see any true benefit in most cases.

        I can barely hear much difference, even swapping different tubes there, so I can't imagine that it's that important to have a balanced tube in that spot.
