Over the weekend I managed to squeeze a 10" Alltone speaker (from a Reverend Goblin, which I replaced with a Jensen Neo) into a Crate V58 tube amp. This thing was already snug with an 8" speaker, but I had this speaker and I knew it would make it better, so... Had to use a coping saw to enlarge the baffle...but then I was still hitting the EL84 with the magnet, so then I chiseled down into the front frame so that the rim of the front mounted speaker would sink about 3/8" lower -and the damage is totally hidden by the grill. It worked ! No obvious cosmetic damage from the outside and a much bigger sound. A tad heavier, no doubt, but worth it. Speaking of coping saws, here's a haiku I wrote:
Scared of computers
but want multiple undos
on my coping saw
