  • HBD Bob Babbitt (Funk Brothers, MFSB, sessions)

Born Robert Kreinar in Pittsburgh PA, USA, November 26, 1937 - July 16, 2012.

A first-call bassist for some of America's finest soul/R&B music.

An instrumental version (no lead vocal).

Motown kicked Gladys and the Pips to the curb, but Bob did them a couple of solids in New Jersey...
session guys from NY and Philly threw down.

Early George Clinton... they tore this one up in the Bronx housing projects!
(I was but a wee lad)

The Platters, reaching for some 60's upbeat soul after "My Prayer" and Twilight Time" had their day.
This is a British pressing of the US 45.

    Holland-Dozier-Holland (producers/songwriters), post-Motown:

He wasn't all about soul music, though...

Yes, post-"Rocky Horror" Tim Curry, also featuring David Sanborn on sax.
