Re: Combo amp suggestions.
@ehdwuld- So I'm giving the 200 watt amp option some serious thought. As of now, I like the Tech 21 VT Bass 200. There are no local music stores that carry the amp so I'll be taking a chance on it without having the option to play or hear it.

Re: Combo amp suggestions.
When I had a fender rumble 40 I felt like it could hang with guitarists with low wattage combo amps. People could certainly hear me from across the street playing bass in my house... I eventually got the rumble 200 for a cleaner bigger low end at that volume but the rumble 40 it's freaking loud
If your friends play low wattage amps you might get away with it. Sounds very good and is extremely light

Re: Combo amp suggestions.
if you jam with friends that have 100 watt amps or 40 watt amps for that matter,
less than 100 watt bass amp will disappear
a loud drummer can drown a small bass amp
get at least a 200 watt and just turn it down
as an option
get a powered PA speaker and a DI pedal for EQ
then if you get tired of bass you can use it for acoustic or something
Bass players have a large responsiblity in bands
usually they are the only ones who know theory
they bring all the mics and PA equipment (frigging singers)
they have a back up guitar cuz they are secretly guitar players
the guitar player usually "borrows" it when he breaks a string

Combo amp suggestions.
I just bought a bass a couple of days ago for home recording. I'm new to the bass realm. My situation is that I've gotten hooked on it and I'm at a point of either getting a Tech 21 VT Bass DI pedal or a small combo. I don't know anything about what brand of amps I should consider and which ones I should absolutely avoid. If I go with an amp I do know I don't need it to exceed 100 watts. I don't plan on gigging. Maybe a jam with some friends but that's about the extent of it. What amps should I take a look at? Budget is roughly $300. Looking for the best bang for the buck. Thanks for the help.Tags: None
