      There are probably a handful of session bassists that have been recorded as much.

          What I find incredible is Lee had a perfectly good '62 neck (one of the few years with the big D shape many players love) cut down to Jazz size...

                Lee Sklar rules. One of my favorite recordings with him is the session players album with "Sitting On The Dock of the Bay."

                  Well, bass. I think Tony Levin's P bass (and later Music Man) might qualify, too.
