  • Coolest Bass tones ever?

so what songs (not individuals) do you think have some of the coolest grooviest bass tones ever recorded? just tones that sounded so huge or hit you in the chest so hard.... or perhaps they were just so groovy and fluid that it caught your ear?

    my two votes go to

    Yes - roundabout

    and

Led Zeppelin - How many more times

The Beatles: Think for Yourself (That heavy "fuzz" bass)
Gap Band: Party Train (The definitive funk bass)
              Jamiroquai: Canned Heat (More funk)
Earth, Wind, and Fire: Let's Groove (Even more funk)
Joni Mitchell: Hejira - Coyote (This is as good as bass gets - Jaco Pastorius, I believe)

one more vote for Roundabout..also all of Yes' Relayer.

Check out John Wetton on King Crimson's "Fracture" off of the 'Starless & Bible Black' album- amazing what a P-Bass through a Hiwatt guitar amp and distortion pedal sounds like.
