  • Cabinet material

In my searching around for amp/cab stuff I've noticed that cabinets are just about always made of wood. Guitar neck technology has evolved a bit with the advent of carbon composites...would cabinets benefit from the same? Would resonance be affected in a positive manner? Just curious.

I dunno, good question. I know I hate Ovations. I would think the cost would be prohibitive in any case. I personally prefer a "dead" cabinet. I want my speakers and cab to reproduce the sound of my guitar and amp without adding any resonance of their own that would be impossible for me to control. I've made several cabinets out of high density fiberboard lined with fiberglass insulation that I like a lot, dead as a doornail.
