I was reading that a clear gloss would add a yellowish tint to an olympic white finish... so if i finished an olympic white guitar i'd just leave the color coat without a clear laquer over it to preserve the color?

Re: Olympic White Finish....
After time it will start to yellow with clear coat. You can omit the clear
coat if you want it not to yellow to fast. I read some where that Fender
didn't clear coat some of it's Oly. White finishes for this reason? But
regardless I think time has it's way with Oly white? My 84' Oly white
Start has turned to a Bannana pudding after 20 years. ( I kinda like it )

Re: Olympic White Finish....
I think it has as much to do with the composition of the clear coat as anything .... I kinda doubt if the newer ones are gonna age much because of the paint formulas they're using now - after all, auto paint was formulated NOT to fade, and that's basically what guitar mfrs are using now"music heals"
