  • Olympic White Finish....

I was reading that a clear gloss would add a yellowish tint to an olympic white finish... so if i finished an olympic white guitar i'd just leave the color coat without a clear laquer over it to preserve the color?

After time it will start to yellow with clear coat. You can omit the clear
coat if you want it not to yellow to fast. I read some where that Fender
didn't clear coat some of it's Oly. White finishes for this reason? But
regardless I think time has it's way with Oly white? My 84' Oly white
Start has turned to a Bannana pudding after 20 years. ( I kinda like it )

I think it has as much to do with the composition of the clear coat as anything .... I kinda doubt if the newer ones are gonna age much because of the paint formulas they're using now - after all, auto paint was formulated NOT to fade, and that's basically what guitar mfrs are using now
