  • Loudest halfstack combination in existence

I keep thinking to myself, "Whats the loudest halfstack in existence?" Seems like a cool question to ask everyone, see if personal bias weighs on everyones opinions or not. Give it a shot, What do you think the worlds loudest halfstack combination is?

The loudest half-stack I've played through was a Mesa/Boogie Mk III head into a Boogie 4x12 cab. It was actually kinda scary.

      A close second was a Musicman HD120 head thru a 4x12 Marshall cab loaded w/ EV 12L's.

      Boy was I dumb.

´70s(?) Ampeg SVT with the 8x10, hands down. Can drown ANY guitarist if you have to

You didn´t rule out basses or different speaker configs, not my fault :fing25:

i read in a guitarist magazine that matamp (british custom amp makers) made a 6000 watt head (six thousand - no mistakes)

i'm pretty sure that is the loudest.

lol yea thats matamp article was great. For production amps, im gunna have to go with a Peavey Mace 160 watt tube 4x12 amp. The damn ting runs 6 6L6GCs! LOUD AS HELL. I never could get it past 4 and not drown out everyone in existence.

Are you talking SPL or perceived loudness? SPL would be "the most powerful amp (any of the 300 watters) into the most efficient speakers in the most resonant 4x12". Perceived loudness is more of a personal thing.

Possibly the Marshll Major 200w head? or that mental Matamp. But those V4s are damn loud too.
