  • Tuners on Cort MGM-1

    Hey -

I've got a cort Matt Guitar Murphy, which I picked up off ebay for about $230. It has an beautiful quilt maple top and Bill Lawrence 465's in it, which are schweeeet. But it goes out of tune very easily. When I turn the tuning knobs, often I hear a "ping" sound that resonates for about a second, then goes away.

Anyone know the cause of the pinging sound? Is there a way to tighten or adjust the tuners?

    Thanks,

    Joe

It's the nut. It's grabbing the strings. Take it to your local tech and have him cut a new one, or polish that one up. Unless you wanna know how to do it yourself, then PM me.
