How close to set EMG's actives to strings?

Hey guys.. I read somewhere that you can set EMG active pickups really close to the strings and not worry about it as they have hardly any magnets at all since they have a pre amp.. ? Is this true? Man I'm getting killer sustain with the EMG 85 I just stuck in the bridge of my washburn.. Sticking another EMG 85 in the neck..

Yes that's true, EMG's have very low string pull so you don't have to worry about pickup height

EMG recommends they be placed close, they are low impedance and their power comes from the preamp and not by hot magnets. So as mentioned above, string pull is not an issue. Crank those suckers all the way up and enjoy.
