  • Removing gold finish?

What is safe and effective to remove gold plating from guitar parts? The gold on the trem and knobs is mostly worn away, so Id like to just strip it. Thanks!

I was told to use paint stripper. It didn't work. So I used fine steel wool. It worked.

Sounds like a good solution to me....
I'd make sure you use 0000 steel wool.

Also, if ya want the parts to shine afterwards, use some Brasso on them.
It can usually be found at any Hardware store, and it's inexpensive. ...
