  • Flametop Pauls

I don't know why, but there's almost nothing that excites me as much
as a really nice Les Paul flametop.

Here's one on Ebay that pulls my heartstrings.

    A high-dollar reissue!!

And lets try a rare color!

The 1st one is awesome!! Looks like a Gold top but better. Beautiful bookmatch maple.
I can see Slash drooling over that one.

i love flametops as well. the green and blue flametops are 2 of my favorites .... they are just usually kinda hard to come by. I don't get why the 59 reissue goes for so much more than the other reissues. I know the '59 is the holy grail... but still.

The first one is pretty, a little too BBQ grill for me, but nice bookmatched top and pretty color.
Whoever's selling the R9 is dreaming on the price. Lots of hype in the description, and some inaccuracies as well. You could buy a really nice '99 Murphy-aged for less than that, or 2 used Rossingtons, which have a reputation for being exceptionally nice-sounding. Or 3 new plaintop R8s, many of which have beautiful tops. I've seen some really ugly brazilian boards on some of those R9s as well.

BBQ Grill. That's a new one. It took my awhile to figure out what
Chevron flame was. (flames that are V shaped, like the Chevron logo,
                            not straight across)

The prices by Gibson seem like they're picked out of a hat! I hate those guys on Ebay who take a $5000 guitar and try to convince you that it's
worth $8000, just because it's 5 yrs old, or something. Morons!

Here's my 2001 LP prem. plus. and 57 Goldie. The burst has the Custom 4 I made out of a Custom 5 with Alnico 4 magnet and a 59 in nickel. The flames are hard to see near the cutaways, but they go all the way to the end.
The Gold has C-5/59 splittable with pullup tonepots. Not pictured, is my 89 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty Historic
35th Anniversary, with C-5/59/59 in gold. I need to get pics of that. It's got the best neck I've ever laid my hands on. These two play like butter, too.
