      Re: Matchless Clubman 35 Amps

There's few amps that make a statement onstage like a Matchless ministack, complete with glowing logo and chassis script, especially in shower curtain black. That thing is beautiful! I'm starting to like the Matchless sound more from head/cab setups than combo's. Especially the Chieftain and Clubman 35. These amps are a lot like your
Univalve Puckboy, since the tone is really dictated by the tube types you put in them.
They ship with Tesla JJ, and really do sound best with those. People looking for sparkling cleans can find huge ones at lower volumes, but the tone of these amps is that fat tubby midheavy clean on the verge of power tube overdrive. They're NOT
designed for highgain or super versatile preamp sounds. There's NO amp built better.
There's no amp that's quieter at idle, and there's NO amp that started the boutique 90's better than the Matchless.
