  • GEAR ACQUISITION PROBLEM! HELP! AND VOTE! (with poll)

    N.B. I am in Australia
    Ok, here is the thing:
I am selling off all my excess gear to get a nice good rig. I am spending approx. 1500USD (minus 100 shipping and 100 for transformers cause i have to bring it all over).
So thats 1300 USD (including the sale of my fender if i sold it) (if not it would be 1000 USD).

I am getting a mesa boogie triaxis from this guy in NJ for 800usd right?
+ hes putting in a 4space rack from musicians friend (skb. us roto rack for 75 usd + 5 for shipping)
so thats 880 usd down the drain.

Heres where the **** hits the fan. I can only get shipped via USPS a maximum of 44pounds before the price just skyrockets to 300 usd for shipping!
So I am limited to 44pounds.
Now, the rackcase is 14.2 pounds and the triaxis I am told is 14 pounds (call it 13.8 for the sake of calculation).
So thats 28 pounds down the drain with 16 left.

And I wanted to fit in a mesa boogie 50/50 too! Because I could get one for 400 bucks I believe. BUT, ill have to get the triaxis guy to ship to that guy then that guy to ship to me , so ill have to have a cool escrow plan for that.
BTW- yes im paying by escrow.
But I dont think the 50/50 is gonna be 16 pounds or under. No way. Though i dont know for sure...

So I figure maybe I shuld get something else and just wait a while till i can afford to get a 50/50 shipped later.
However that means for about 6 months i will have to run my triaxis straight into my fender stage 112 se.
Wont it sound bad, but still better than my v-amp2 at the moment? Someone tell me. If it can be done.

My end rig I Want to be is
    Wolfie (got it) - > G-major - > Triaxis - > 50/50 -> 2x12 cab (v/30's).

So the way I see it is I have 2 options:

    1. Get triaxis, wait for 50/50 and run the triaxis into the fender for now.
    2. Get triaxis, get 50/50 shipped seperatly and use house cabs till I can afford buying a cab (which is a feasable option, but i need to get a 50/50 for cheap enough).

    HELP SOMEONE!!!

No contest; get them shipped seperately and use house cabs until you can start buying 4x12's ...
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!

+1 to what TO said. I wish I knew more about the triaxis though.

+1 When you can, get a Mesa stereo cab. Don't buy a mono cab, unless you want to pull out the mono jack, saw out a bigger hole and install a dual jack.

I'd be getting a 2x12 with v30's. How different is the stereo/mono cab?

                Sounds like a good plan.
