  • Pod 2.0 deep editing

So I've had my Pod 2.0 for a year or so and mostly I just turned the knobs until I found something that worked. Being a computer retard I never bothered to load the software because I wasn't exactly sure how to run midi in and out of my PC.

Over the last few months I've picked up some new recording gear, including a G5 Mac and a Digi 002 rack. Both are great pieces of gear for recording and the Mac in particular is very user friendly. PCs gave me migrane every time I tried to do something new, the Mac just does what I want in a very easy way.

So I load the edit disk onto my computer, or at least I try. The disk that came with the Pod 2.0 is formatted for OS 9 and my new Mac runs OS X. So I go to the Line6 site, download the software. I install it and everything is good. I fire it up and my Mac tells me to plug the Pod into the Digi 002 midi jacks and all the prompts are right there. Life was never this easy on a PC.

The editing software is too cool. Yes I know I'm a couple of years past the learning curve and most of you Pod owners figured this stuff out years ago but hey, I already told you I was retarded. I'm digging the fact that I can now see what I'm doing and I don't have to guess where old presets were positioned or guess what amp model I started out with six months ago.

The user downloads also look promising.

As an added bonus, now that I can download files and transfer them via midi through the Mac/Digi combination I can finally get the software updates for my Rocktron and TC Electronics rack gear. Maybe even some new patches for my Yamaha S80 synth.

For anyone that hasn't figured out how to install and use the editing software and get their computer to communicate with their midi gear, I highly recommend it.

I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

    cheers
the deep editing realy lets you see all the tone parameters in a cool in your face display, also all of pod's memory etc.
    just convinient.
hte problem with tonetransfer (now called Customtone. ooh!...) is that various people use various different gear, and set their POD accordingly. so not all sounds will work with what your using. however there are some REALY sweet tones out there that only need an EQ nudge to sound great.

Hmm I have a CD for my Flextone that I've never used.

I think a Flex 2 is a Pod 2 in amp form so maybe its the same thing...

Might go find that CD actually...

Actually use the new Line 6 Edit software instea of the Soundiver software on that CD. It's very cludgy. BEsides you can open up those old LIB files on the new Line 6 Edit as well as all the current format.

Yeah, definitely download the Edit software from Line 6's site, it's much more efficient and user friendly.
