Not quite sure what I wanna do yet--if anything, but I was curious about both options. Weighing out the price of a good power amp and whether I would need a different kind of speaker with the pod option vs. just buying a Vetta where the two amp at once feature is really appealing, in which case I would have to sell the pod and a few other things to get the amp, and them have to lug the amp up and down if I feel like just jammin with the headphones.

I know I talked about the Atomic with the PODxt in another thread, but I also have a Vetta II HD that I run through a Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12 cab. I love both setups.I do like recording stuff via the AES/EBU out right into our Agopgee converter right into ProTools. I used to alway run 2-3 amps a once live and I can dial those type of sounds right upwith the Vetta. That's one feature that no other Line 6 product does. It also has a harmonizer of sorts, plus their double tracker option.

I like the original Vetta and when dialed in properly, it does sound very good.

I don't know a lot about the Vetta, but I can tell you that Line 6 builds a lot of repetition into their products. I can record with a direct out on my Spider and I know you can do so with a POD and an AXIS, so I feel pretty damn confident telling you that a Vetta will allow you to do so as well.
As far as the Vetta head vs the combo, I don't believe there's any difference in the amp per se, and I think as long as you're giving the head the same resistance that it's requiring, you should be able to run whatever cab you want with it. I do believe, though, that you're going to find that the speakers that sound best with the amp are "middle of the road" types. Emminence makes a general purpose speaker rated at 75 watts that is as "middle of the road" as it gets. The reason I say this is because the modeling preamp is the thing that's actually producing the assorted tones, and since they go from ultra clean to insanely distorted, "MOTR" speakers are going to be able to fill those shoes the best. And, I'm sorry but I don't know anything about Vetta upgrades.

How bout instead of trying to put my PODxt thru a power amp, I actually get a Vetta. I've already got my great real tube amp setup that I love but again, I like the versatility of having many different sounds.

First, can you use the Vetta as a direct recording device like the POD with the same great sounds? Secondly, is there any difference between the Vetta head and the combo as far as the amp is concerned? Lastly, is it a good idea to put a Vetta head through a regular guitar cab loaded with say Vintage 30s or Eminence Legends or does this head REALLY need the Line 6 cabinet to reproduce the sounds in the amp?

I'd appreciate your opinions so I can get a head start on my next G.A.S. attack!

P.S. What's the difference between a Vetta I upgraded to version 2, and just buying the version 2 if any.
