  • Speaker cabinets. diferences

i was thinking today. what is the diference between two diferent cabs?

for example.. take a marshall 1960 and a bogner 4x12 cab. what is the diference between the two if you take the speakers away. do diferent cabs have diferent switchers (or what are those thingies) and whatnot?

could i put celestion V30's into a XYunknown cab and it's sound the same as if i'd put it in a marshall cab. if i had the dimensions, could i make one myself and it'd sound the same?

and whats the diference between a closed and an open back

Open back is gonna let sound out the back, losing you some bass and projection.

Closed backs are much more focussed because of this, but I guess heavier also

I think the cabinet material + thickness has a lot to do with tone also

      BIG DIFFERENCES!!
The internal size of the cabinet, the thickness and kind of wood, how it's braced, does it have any foam inside ... all of these factors count.
Also, type of wiring, as well as the quality of the connectors.
My Rivera cab is 5/8" birch ... HEAVY!!!! Makes a Marshall cab feel like it's made outta balsa wood.
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!
