  • Plugged in a Parker USA Fly bass today

    WOW!!!!
Went to a local shop today where they have a Parker USA Fly bass. I heard Adrian Belew's bassist playing one of these several years ago when I saw him in concert.
Somehow, someday, I wanna get one!!!
It's a very unique bass, visually of course, but in materials and tone too.
It has that carbon fiber neck. Kinda different, looking at the back of the neck and it looks like a Modulus bass neck, or the top of my Adamas acoustic guitar.
And speaking of the neck, it felt amazing. Slim, with low action and easy to play all the way up, above the 12th fret.
The tone!! Wow! Pickups are a pair of EMG soapbar bass pickups. It will do a deep bass tone when the neck pickup is used. But the one closer to the bridge has the badass growling tone, not like a Rickenbacker, not that tubby sound like a P bass, and not that twangy thing that a J bass does, but its own thing altogether. I can see using this bass on recordings to get a new and original bass tone that has not been done before.
    Somehow, I gotta get one!
