  • mxr wylde overdrive

I got a wylde overdrive about 2 months ago it worked fine for a few weeks and now when i step on the switch to turn it off sometimes my volume drops by half or more. and sometimes the led will stay on when the effect is not. i was wondering if anyone else had one and had trouble with it. if so what you did to fix it i thought about replacing the switch but dont want to if i dont have too. any info will help thanks.

sounds like a typical MXR stomp box behavior to me !

it also colors your tone less, its pretty much a transparent boost

          pinch harmonics scream, of course

            +1

It has a flatter EQ than the SD-1 (less mid hump), and is true bypass (the Boss has a FET buffered bypass). Very open with little compression.

            Any harmonics scream.

I find it's great for using as a rhythm OD as you can leave it on all the time without loosing dynamics (unlike a TS-9). I also use it as the second, higher gain boost in a dual OD setup for that Santana type "sustain for days" thing in combination with a TS-9.

hmm, i use a rt66 or valvetone and a sd1 for that same thing. so maybe the mxr would work better?

Tone is subjective. You'd have to try it first.
