  • Quick Question

    quickie.

for all you peavey classic 30 owners/fans/whatever

is there a mod or something you can do to the amp to make the clean channel not distort when you turn it up loud? i noticed it begins to distort as you raise the volume. may sound stupid, but i was wondering if there was a mod that can fix this or something, haha.

    thanks

    Re: Quick Question

I'm not a Peavey owner, but I have experienced similar problems in the past with my 30 watter.

30w are great for most applications, however, it does not have the headroom that a 50 or 100w would have. I have found that switching a 12ax7 tube for a 12at7 makes a huge difference. You lose gain, but you get more headroom and IMHO, better tone.

Playing with single coils (especially ones that aren't overwound) help keep clipping to a minimum.

    Just something simple to try
