  • Intonation problem- what do i do?

    hey,

put a new pickup in my explorer yesterday and now i have an intonation problem.

the only sting that has a problem the D string and it only starts after like the 7th fret.

    every other string is okay.

I've played around with the bridge tail piece but i can't get the string to stop going Flat.

    please help me out

    thanks

Tune the D string. Play the D string at the 12th fret. If it is flat you need to move the bridge saddle forward towards the nut until the open D and 12th fret D are both in tune.

Replace that D string first. Every once in awhile you get a stinker in a new set, or you may have kinked it if you uninstalled and reinstalled the string when changing the pickup out. Getting a kink in a string will not stretch out when the guitar is tuned and will throw the excursion out when it rings.
